**[WRI Polsky Center for the Global Energy Transition](https://www.linkedin.com/company/wri-energy-program/)** will work in collaboration with the **[IBM](https://www.linkedin.com/company/ibm/)** **[Impact Accelerator Program](https://newsroom.ibm.com/blog-ibm-impact-accelerator-bings-ai-to-the-frontlines-of-supply-chains)** to develop an AI-enabled mapping capability that uses very-high-resolution satellite imagery to detect and classify rooftop and ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The project will begin in India, with plans to scale to Kenya and beyond. The outputs will be integrated into **[Energy Access Explorer](https://www.linkedin.com/company/energy-access-explorer/)**, WRI’s open-source data platform, to support evidence-based, inclusive energy planning.
