Working on energy system modelling? New data for 49 countries is now available!

We’re pleased to announce the launch of a new edition of Starter Data Kits (SDKs) for whole energy system modelling.

The SDKs provide a comprehensive foundation for developing and exploring energy system models, covering 199 technologies across the entire energy supply–demand chain, including:
Primary energy production
Fossil fuel processing
Power generation
Low-carbon technologies, including hydrogen supply
Agriculture and industry
Households and services
Transport

The datasets can support a wide range of applications from capacity building and academic research to technical energy planning and can be used with established energy modelling frameworks such as OSeMOSYS.

The new datasets are available for 49 countries across sub-Saharan Africa.
Whether you are building your first energy system model, updating an existing model, or exploring future energy pathways, these SDKs can provide a valuable starting point.
