Hello,

On the Hands On 4 modelling exercise, I have inserted all parameters as specified in the guide. However, when running the model it still gives me gas as the fuel of choice for optimisation. I have re-checked many times and couldn’t find any mistake that could justify why I am not seeing Coal instead.

Does anyone have any idea of what could be happening?

Hi again,

I have run HO5-act 3 and coal is definitely not appearing as an option in the Run results. I have re-checked each data entry, and they are correct. Still, this is what I see:

I thought the model may not be reading Coal is a component, but it is accepted there in Commodities sets. What am I missing?

Hi,

There should be a mix of coal and gas for HO5, so I can try and help to find the issue! Could you please tell me your country and the run number it states on the cloud? I can then check the data file just to make sure that all inputted data is correct :slight_smile:

Hi Leigh and Kane,

Thank you very much! I have found where the mistake was: the OutputActivityRatio for PWRCOA hadn’t saved correctly, so it had a ratio 0, compared to all other technologies that had ratio 1.

The mistake was a good learning opportunity, so well worth it.

@Kane I’m based in Brazil and am doing the training as part of the application for the next EMP LAC cohort. I have checked and am using the latest version of the course.

However, when running the model i still encounter same problem, it still gives me gas as the fuel of choice for optimisation. I have re-checked especially the OutputActivityRatio and couldn’t find any mistake that could justify why I am not seeing Coal instead. attached is my data file. I would be glad to receive any help on what is wrong.
