Dear Francesco,

Starting with Hands on exercise 6, activity 2 on wards, the technologies, commodities and modes of operation I enter are not reflected in the model after the run. I only see an output similar to the preceding exercise/activity.

What could be the problem?

Dear David,

I can spot a few mistakes in your exercise 6.2:

  • The capital costs are now given only for the initial year, whereas they should be given for all years;
  • The technology LNDMAIHR should have an input of LND (now by mistake it has an input of COA);
  • The PWRHYD technology now has an input of COA; it should be the PWRCOA technology, instead (with an InputActivityRatio of 3 for COA);
  • MINWND should have an output of 1 for WND;

Moreover, I see some inputs regarding the irrigated land types with high inputs are missing. I.e. the LNDRICHI (rice cultivations with irrigation and high inputs) and LNDMAIHI (maize cultivations with irrigation and high inputs):

  • LNDRICHI should have an input of LND, i.e. use some of the overall land available, and an output of LRICHI;
  • LNDMAIHI should have an input of LND, i.e. use some of the overall land available, and an output of LMAIHI;
  • LNDAGR001 should have an input of LMAIHI (in mode 3) and LRICHI (in mode 4); i.e. the agricultural land should be using land for producing maize and rice also in the irrigated modes;
  • LNDAGR001 should produce crops also in modes 3 and 4: in mode 3, an output of 1 of CRPMAI; in mode 4, an output of 0.4 of CRPRIC; i.e. the irrigated land will produce with a higher yield than the rainfed land (modes 1 and 2)

When the above are corrected, you should be able to see the results change correctly as you progress.
