The OSEAS 2026 Hackathon is a four‑week challenge that gives students and early‑stage developers the chance to work on real Open Source problems across the energy access value chain.
It sits alongside the Open Source in Energy Access Symposium as a practical, hands‑on track: instead of just hearing about Open tools and data, teams will use them to build prototypes, scripts, and analyses linked to resource assessment, planning, finance, implementation, and operations.
Guided by mentors from The EnAccess Foundation, WRI Polsky Energy Center, partner universities and industry, participants will collaborate online, check in through weekly touchpoints, and then share their results in a showcase aligned with OSEAS 2026, so the best work has a clear path into the wider community rather than ending as ‘innovation theatre.’
